Obituary for James Earl York
James Earl York, 77, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at home. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Mr. York was born on June 15, 1943, in Tallahatchie County, MS, the son of the late William Clinton York and Mary Etta Jenkins York. He worked as a truck driver for J&G express and the Russell Company and as a security guard for Capital Security for over 10 years. Mr. York loved to travel to see family and camping throughout the Southeastern United States. He was an avid dominoes player. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Shelby, Clint, Billy and sister, Baby Jane. He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Baudoin of Houma, LA; son, Purvis Purviance of Houma, LA; son, Michael Purviance of Houma, LA; and their mother, Florence Irene York of Jackson, MS. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kendra Guillot, Randi Chiasson, Michael Davis, Shannon Valenti, Taylor Purviance, Cody Purviance, 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Grace Tranum of Bellefontaine, MS; Bobbie Allan of Copiah County, MS, and nieces, Judy Colloms and Kimberly Coats.
