Obituary for James Doyle Robertson
James (Jimmy) Doyle Robertson passed away August 17 at the Arbor Nursing Home, Ridgeland Ms. Jimmy was born March 25, 1946 in Kosciusko MS to Mary Sue and Doyle Robertson. He enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He attended Drew Public School and later Canton Public School. He graduated from Canton High School and attended both Holmes Community College and Mississippi State University. His first job was at Iupe's of Canton and later he became a department manager at Gayfers of Jackson, Mobile and various other locations. He loved all Mississippi State sports and chatting with his thousands of Facebook friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Canton. Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved parents and many aunts and uncles that raised him as their own. He is survived by his sister Susan (Bill) Edwards of Madison, his nephew Chad (Tonya) Barber of Madison, his niece Rebecca (Brad) Tackett of Seagrove, Florida; his great nephews Logan and Will Barber and his great nieces Taylor and Harper Tackett. In addition he leaves behind a loving step family, many cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful care given to Jimmy by his long time physician, Ruth Fredericks, the staff of Sunnybrook Estates and The Arbor Nursing Home. Due to Covid restrictions there will be a graveside visitation at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning and a service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Canton MS Cemetery located on S. Lyon Street. (dress comfortably) In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Canton, P.O. Box 377, Canton, MS 39046.
