each stage of the grieving process.
Imogene Parker Griffith, aged 87, died on April 15 at St. Dominic’s Hospital after suffering a stroke on March 7. Imogene, more commonly known as Gene or Mom or Memaw, was born July 13, 1930, in Winston County, MS, the daughter of Irvin and Lennie Dunning Parker.
Gene was married to the love of her life, John Griffith, in 1950. John died in March 2014. Together, they pastored churches in TX, LA, and mostly MS. She was the epitome of the pastor’s wife and loved by all who knew her. She retired from MS Highway Safety Patrol in 1991. Family and friends were Gene’s passion, second only to her love of her Savior. She lived her last year at Sunnybrook, Madison, making many new friends.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sherry Griffith Robertson (Cecil), granddaughters, Lauren Robertson Wall (Bryan), Leslie Robertson Lair (Paul), and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Anna. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister, Hazel, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 am Thursday at 1st Independent Methodist, Madison with visitation at 10 am. Visitation also will be Wednesday 5-7 pm at Sebrell, Ridgeland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to 1st Independent Methodist Church, 1556 Hwy 51 N, Madison 39110, for a lasting legacy.
