Herbert Leroy McElroy of Pearl, left this earth and went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Brandon Assembly of God with the funeral service being held at 12 Noon. Burial to immediately follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens, Brandon, MS.
Herbert McElroy was born on January 30, 1962, in Natchez, MS, the son of Henry Carroll McElroy, Sr. and Pearl Marie Adams McElroy Smith.
Mr. McElroy worked for over 10 years at Jackson Truck and Trailer, Pearl, MS and was a known as a hard worker who loved his job. Herbert knew all things when it came to semi trucks! He could drive them, dispatch them, and even work on them when any mechanical issues would arise. He was a Jack of all trades!
Herbert will be remembered most for his sense of humor! He would always crack a joke or be as silly as possible no matter the situation. He loved hard! His love for his family ran deep and he cherished spending time with them. Family was very important! His kids and grandkids had his heart! Herbert loved his wife! She was the love of his life! He has taken care of, and loved her for over 30 years. He will be forever loved and deeply missed.
Survivors include his loving wife Shelia McElroy of Pearl; daughter, Chasity McElroy of Natchez; son, Christopher McElroy of Pearl, stepdaughter, Shannon Ellis of Pearl (Brian); Stepdaughter, Brandy Pepper of Pearl; grandchildren, Callie McElroy, Sebastian Webb, Emily Ellis, and Ace Ellis; brother, Henry McElroy of Natchez (Rhonda); brother, Tommy McElroy of Natchez (Diane); brother, Ronnie McElroy of Florence (Melissa); sister, Annette Davis of Ridgeland (Mike Rainer); and sister, Terri Marie Adams Padilla (Mario) and a host of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with his parents, Herbert is preceded in death by brother, Earl McElroy, and grandson Austin Lane.
