Obituary for Gerald Wayne Jones
Gerald Wayne “Jerry” “Sarge” Jones, 64, passed away on Jul 28, 2016, at the VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Aug 1, 2016, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 3327 Old Canton Rd, Jackson, MS with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Clinton, MS. Jerry was born in Shreveport, LA on November 23, 1951 and graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1971. He retired from the Mississippi Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. He attended Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson and was a resident of Harmony Court. Jerry was a 3rd Degree Master Mason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Knight’s of St. Andrews and a 14th Degree York Rite Mason in the Knight’s Templar. He was a member of the Forrest Hill Masonic Lodge #613. Jerry was a gentle man who loved his family, never met a stranger, and was generous to everyone. His parents, Air Force Master Sergeant John Riley and Ellen Carnline Jones and his wife, Sally Louise Jones precede him in death. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Jones (Sheena Wingate) of Clinton; and his grandson, Johnny as well as his brothers, James “Larry” Jones (Toodie) of Jackson, Dr. Terry Jones (Ruth) of West Point, and Lieutenant General Darrell Jones (Holly), USAF Retired of San Antonio, TX; and his fiancee, Kelly Cooper.
