Born, August 25, 1940, died October 13, 2018. He was the only child of George Albert Anderson and Lila Lee Bartlett who preceded him in death. He attended high school in Ripley, MS and college at Mississippi State University School of Engineering.
Mr. Anderson was a commercial contractor and president of Anderson Construction, Ancon Corporation, and George Anderson Construction. He worked as a Construction Estimator and Project Manager for several Mississippi companies. He was a member of the ABC, Associated Building Contractors and AGC, Associated General Contractors. In retirement he often said, “I loved to build buildings and I always tried to do the right thing.”
He loved his family and leaves his wife of 52 years, Lana Hill Anderson, along with sons Al Anderson (Karen Booth) and Andy Anderson (Shannon Hay), as well as grandchildren, Andrew Bartlett, Jr., Hayley Marie, and Mary Evelyn Anderson.
He loved his church, Christ United Methodist Church of Jackson, MS, where he served as a greeter, Sunday school teacher, board member, Tuesday morning men’s group, and Monday night sharing group.
He served as one of the original members of Mississippi Methodist Cursillo, Kairos Prison Ministries and Walk to Emmaus. He took leadership roles in all ministries.
He loved golf, football and any other sport that MSU played. Respected for his integrity, he was a happy,content man and a loyal friend.
As First Lieutenant with the US Army, Mississippi National Guard, George Anderson was called to active service as a federalized soldier for the protection of African American James Meredith when he enrolled as a student at the University of Mississippi on October 1, 1962.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church with services to follow at 11:30 a.m.

As a last gift George donated his brain to Lewy Body research at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.
