Obituary for George Brandon Haynes
George Brandon Haynes, 64, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, after a long battle with lung cancer. Mr. Haynes was born in Austin, Texas in 1958. He was the son of JoAnn and Frank Haynes.
George graduated from Manhattan Academy in Jackson, MS, and later went to Hinds Community College, where he studied Respiratory Therapy. He worked at various area hospitals for almost 20 years, before he decided to change professions. He opened his own vending business, Shamrock Snacks, where he was the known as the “cookie man.” He enjoyed providing businesses with snacks but more importantly loved visiting with people he got to see on a week-to-week basis.
George was most proud of his family. He married the love of his life, Donna Billingsley, in 1979. They were married for 42 years, and they had two daughters. He was a wonderful and devoted husband and father. He always was our biggest cheerleader through life, even when he was ill. He supported us through thick and thin and was always willing to share a word of advice.
When he wasn’t working or with his family, George enjoyed being a Mason. He was a 33° Scottish Rite Master Craftsman Mason and attended the Forest Hill Lodge in Jackson, Mississippi. He was also a Master Gardener and took great pride in his plants and yard. He was a friend to all and always enjoyed sitting and visiting with someone over a cup of coffee.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his two daughters, Holly (Brad) and their children, Laura and Bryton Jones of Madison; Heather (Anthony) and their children, Myles and Mason Walker of Nashville; his sisters Cheryl Geoghrgan and Dot Lewis, his brother, Blake Haynes and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and JoAnn Haynes.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 21, at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with services following.
