Obituary for Gene Weston Rowzee, Sr.
Gene Weston Rowzee, Sr., 81, died quietly in his sleep on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, in Oxford, Mississippi, at the home he shared with his son, daughter-in-law, and four of his grandchildren. An avid sports fan, Gene will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, athlete, and outdoorsman.
Gene was a graduate of Coldwater High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He also attended Northwest Community College and the University of Mississippi, served in the Army National Guard, and retired after a long career as an executive working in the food industry.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Zelda (Ray) Rowzee. He is survived by his siblings, Jerry Rowzee and Betty Simmons, and brother-in-law, Albert Simmons; his son and daughter-in-law, Gene Jr. and Debra; his daughter and daughter-in-law, Christy and Novia; and his five grandchildren, Weston, Bowen, Emma, Richie and CJ.
A visitation will be held at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi, on Friday, March 2, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., with the funeral held at the same location on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at noon. He will be interred at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Mississippi.
