Obituary for Gaines C. Stanford
Gaines C. Stanford passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Willow Creek Nursing Center in Byram.
A native of Greenwood Springs, Mississippi, born June 19, 1924, he was the son of the late Woodie and Sarah Brown Stanford. Mr. Stanford loved motorcycles, gardening and his family. He had been a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lela Stanford, in 2011, and a grandson, Zachery D. Powell, in 2018.
He is survived by his daughters, Janie Ross (Larry), of Utica, and Jackie Stanford, of Brandon; grandchildren, Casmine Spencer (Bruce), of Brandon, and Heather Hawkins, of Raymond; great grandchildren: Haleigh Woods, Tre’ Spencer, Ava Montgomery, Aubree Spencer, Brooks Spencer, and Maisie Powell.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson, the Rev. Ty Pigott officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service on Thursday morning at the church.
