Obituary for Florence Ruth Proctor
Florence Ruth Proctor, 86, died July 6, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Florence was born and raised in Ethel, Mississippi. She was the seventh of twelve children born to the late Emmett and Nellie VanLandingham. She was a diligent worker for School Pictures, Inc. for forty-four years. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her son, Mickey, and daughter-in-law, Pat, and nine of her siblings. She was a loving mom to her daughter, Susan Vining (Bill Hosey); and sons, Mickey Proctor and Jeff Proctor. She absolutely adored her grandchildren: Kristi Hardy, Scott Vining, and Blake Vining. She was a loving great grandmother to Jordan Vining, Ainsley Hardy, and Aidan Hardy. Florence was referred to by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Maw.” She is also survived by two sisters, Glenda VanLandingham Speed and McCrea VanLandingham Shelton (Paul); and numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved her. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made in Florence’s memory to Encompass Health Hospice, 225 Katherine Drive, Flowood, MS 39232.
