Obituary for Florence Jane "Joy" Wells Spencer
Florence Jane "Joy" Wells Spencer, 87, died peacefully on January 18, 2022, at the Arbor in Ridgeland. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at Brandon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Born on July 6, 1934, she graduated from high school in Alexandria, LA and earned her college degree at Loyola in New Orleans.
Mrs. Spencer began her career as a medical technologist in Galveston, TX, returning to Alexandria, LA, she met and married Hugh Frank Spencer Jr., in Shreveport, LA. After their son, Frank, III,. was born, they moved to Brandon. Mrs. Spencer continued her career as medical technologist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she later retired.
After her husband's death, she moved to Mandeville, LA, to be closer to New Orleans. She moved back to the reservoir a few years, before moving to Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Spencer returned and settled into the Orchard. She was a communicant of the Episcopal Church and enjoyed services at the Orchard
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother and sister, Buddy Wells and Elizabeth Leake.
She is survived by her son, Frank Spencer of Brandon, MS
