Obituary for Eunice E. Poole
Eunice E. Poole, 90, of Canton died Thursday, January 18, 2018 in her home. A native of Collinsville and born February 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William L. Ethridge and the late Sally Jane Lee Ethridge. She grew up in the Martin community and developed a strong work ethic before meeting the love of her life, Erskine Poole, whom she married on November 22, 1945. She was a hard-working mother and, after raising her family, returned to school at the age of 41 and received her nursing degree. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years and retired in her mid-70s. Mrs. Poole and her husband were known for their love of country-western dancing and were members of the “Capitol City Chasers” for many years. She cherished time with her family the most but also enjoyed reading, sewing, flowers and especially going to the beach. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Peter K. Poole; great grandson, Owen Lawrence; seven sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Erskine Poole, of Canton; her children: Deborah J. Ford, of Pensacola; Timothy E. Poole (Kay), of Bailey, MS; and Christopher L. Poole (Joyce), of Benton, AR; daughter-in-law, Cindy Poole, of Pearl; brother, Murray Ethridge, of New Bern, NC; grandchildren: Elizabeth Covington (Ken), Wendy Lawrence (Kimsey), Jason Laughlin (Amanda), Justin Laughlin (Kathy), Amy McMinn (Adam), Christopher Poole, Jr., Caleb Poole (Amy), and Megan Poole; nine great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Friends are invited to visitation with the family after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland where the Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Bro. David Merritt and Bro. Charlie Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow in Farmhaven Cemetery on the grounds of the family home in Canton.
