Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Crawford, age 83, passed away Sunday morning, August 7, 2016. Visitation will be at Sebrell Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 2-3 PM in Ridgeland, MS. Graveside services will be immediately after at Parkway Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Madison, MS.

Libby was born in Meridian, MS on February 26, 1933. She had a happy childhood and would often share memories of the mischief she and her two sisters and three brothers would get into growing up. One such story was how her and a friend hid under a house and pretended to be a cat. The woman who lived there kept calling for it, which only made them “meow” louder and louder. She got into a lot of trouble for it and had to apologize, but it still made her chuckle after all of those years. At other times, she would sneak to watch the gypsies that resided in Meridian. One of the elderly gypsies befriended her, and she would beg him to let her join them. If only her parents knew!

As a young woman, she married Bob Thomas, with whom she had four boys: Bobby Thomas, Ronald “Ronnie” Thomas, Randy Thomas, and Jerry Thomas.

Later in life, she married George Crawford, Jr, with whom she had a boy and girl: George Crawford III and Fawn Freis. They were separated by his death in 1998.

Libby was a spiritual woman who loved her children and family. She never met a stranger, and could often be found engaging people with her quick wit and sense of humor. An avid reader, she loved to learn new things. Likewise, she was a writer and natural storyteller, making up poems and stories to entertain her kids and grandkids. She also loved to travel. She would joke this was because she was born in a tent (her father was on a construction job at the time).

She is survived by her children Ronnie Thomas, Randy Thomas, Jerry Thomas, George Crawford, and Fawn Freis, her step-children Jerry Crawford, Judy Harper, Jimmy Crawford, and Janice Weaver, and many, many grandkids and great-grandkids.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband George Crawford, Jr., her son Bobby K Thomas, her parents Ronald and Odie Zell Gough, her sisters Peggy Curtis and Sarah McNabb, and her grandsons Ronald Thomas and James Webb.
