Obituary for Ed Fair Underwood, Jr.
Edmirl “Ed” Fair Underwood, Jr., 77, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at his home in Jackson, Mississippi surrounded by his loving wife, Melanie and his sons, Billy and Bob. Visitation will begin at 5:00PM on Tuesday, August 15th, 2017 until the 7:00PM Memorial Service all at Sebrell Funeral Home, 425 Northpark Drive, Ridgeland, Mississippi. The morning Ed died he was met by his high school buddies in heaven. One of them being, Leo Tickner, the two old pals have now been reunited. Mr. Underwood had a wonderful sense of humor, and to meet him was the best thing that could happen to a person. With his beautiful blue eyes and radio voice, he never met a stranger, he was just Ed. Toward the end of his life he was in pain, and the morning he went home to be with the Lord, we knew it was for the best. He is now in his heavenly home with his mother and his father who were both model parents. This is a time of mourning, and also a time to celebrate his going home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmirl Fair Underwood, Sr. and Almeida Frances Hollingsworth. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Melanie Underwood; sons, Ed Underwood III, and Neil Underwood both of Brewton, AL, Larry (Lisa) Underwood of Humble, TX, Bob Underwood and Bill Underwood both of Jackson, MS; daughter, Kiplynn (Mitch Winans) Underwood of Mobile, AL; sister, Maryann (Thomas G. Gresham) Todd of Jackson, MS; 4 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends. Also left to cherish his memory is his 2nd best girl, his cat “Polly Ester.” He will be missed by many and we know he was welcomed into heaven by many. He will be missed by his best girl, the love of his life, Melanie. Farewell my love.
