Obituary for Earl Allen Thornton
Earl Allen Thornton died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson. He was 84.

A native of Crystal Springs and born May 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Ernest and Blanche Johnson Thornton.

Mr. Thornton was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the State of Mississippi following nearly 30 years of dedicated service in information technology. He loved his family, fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant son, Stacey Allen Thornton; and his siblings: Mary Jo Frank, Homer Thornton, Terrell Thornton, Fannie Ruth Thornton, Bill Thornton, Lucille Thornton Mitchell, and Betty Sue Lewis.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Sullivan Thornton, of Brandon; daughter, Tracey Thornton Giles (Jeff), of Fannin and Tiffany Thornton Green (Sonny), of Brandon; grandchildren, Taylor Lawson Giles, Lauren Giles Smith (Bradley), Jared Thornton Green, and Jacob Chance Green; great grandson, Knox Isaiah Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A private family graveside service will be held at Natchez Trace Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Fannin, 101 Church Rd., Brandon, MS 39047.
