Obituary for Dr. Lewis Alfred "Al" Norville

Dr. Lewis Alfred “Al” Norville, Jr, 94, of Brandon, Mississippi, died October 2, 2022. A funeral service will be held on 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland with burial following at the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Coila,MS. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022 and will resume at Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the funeral home.

Al was born July 7, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Lewis Alfred Norville, Sr. and Lillian Brown Norville. His family moved to Arkansas and after high school, Al joined the Navy.

Following graduation from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1951, he moved his family to Jackson, Mississippi, and set up practice seeing patients until retiring in October 2020. During his 71 years of practice, he served to further his profession both locally and nationally through various chiropractic associations and organizations as President of the Mississippi Chiropractic Association, Fellow of International College of Chiropractic, State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Federal Chiropractic Licensing Board, Mississippi Delegate to the American Chiropractic Association for 40 years, During this time Al was awarded Mississippi Chiropractor of the year in 1964, American Chiropractic Association Chiropractor of the year 2007 and the American Chiropractor Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

Al’s first love was music. As a teenager he played piano at tent revivals in Arkansas and loved to tell of his time playing clubs in St. Louis always saying “I never took a drink!”

When not seeing patients or playing piano you could find him on the course with his Annandale golf buddies! Al loved the Lord, his family, and his dogs-Foxy, Lilie, and Chole.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lewis Alfred Norville III, son-in-law, Hugh Young, and grandson, Loran Norveil Young.

Al is Survived by his wife, Bess Dunn Norville; daughters, Gloria Young, Audie Dodson (Monty) and Phyllis Bollinger (David); thirteen Grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, and three nieces.
