Obituary for Dr. Emmett A. Eaton
Dr. Emmett A Eaton passed away from this earth October 24, 2019. Born in Jackson, MS September 11, 1927, he attended several schools throughout the city but graduated high school from Jefferson Military School in Natchez, MS. Upon graduation from Jefferson, Dr. Eaton joined the Navy and was training as a naval aviator when the war ended. Upon discharge from the navy Dr. Eaton attended various colleges and graduated from the University of Alabama. He attended Emory University earning his dental degree. Upon graduation he re-enlisted in the navy and was stationed at Long Beach/ San Diego. He was later stationed at Millington Naval Air station, Millington Tennessee. He was married to Mary Leila Luckett also of Jackson, MS, in May of 1951 and had a long happy marriage of 68 years. After retiring from dentistry he pursued several hobbies: duck hunting, fishing, poker and motor home building. One of his motor homes was showcased in a national travel magazine. Dr. Eaton was preceded in death by his father, Emmett A. Eaton, and his mother, Eva Mixon Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Leila Eaton and 3 children; Emmett A. Eaton, Jr., Angela Gomes and Leslie Lyons, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to: Alzheimer’s Mississippi, Inc. 855 pear Orchard Rd.
