Obituary for Donald Pender
Donald Pender died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 77.
A native of West, MS, he was the son of the late George Weston Pender and Annie Elizabeth Tullos Pender, of Canton. He had been a resident of Vicksburg for many years before moving to Tishomingo and, more recently, Flowood. While in Vicksburg, he was an avid fan and loyal supporter of Porters Chapel Academy athletics and could be seen attending any event for many years. He retired as Section Foreman with MidSouth Rail Corporation following 26 years of service.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved to garden and work in his yard. In addition to his family, he will be missed dearly by his feline babies: Tezzie and Merle.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Olivia Watkins; infant sister, Janice Pender; and brothers, Phillip Pender and Douglas Pender.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara P. “Bobbie” Pender, of Flowood; son, Brian Pender (Melissa), of Pearl; sisters, Joann Tollison (Billy), of Grenada and Jean Jewell, of Canton; brothers, Frank Wallace “Red” Pender (Jean), of Pearl and Ronnie Pender (Linda), of Lumberton; granddaughter, Gracie Watkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Truitt Baptist Church, 3705 Old Brandon Rd. in Pearl, with Rev. Dennis Stringer officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Truitt Baptist Church, 3705 Old Brandon Rd., Pearl, MS 39208 or to a charity of your choice.
