Obituary for Donald Jines
Donald Jines Jackson, Mississippi
Donald Jines, 82, died May 24, 2022 at the VA Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2022 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland with United States Naval Honors. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon.
Mr. Jines was born on June 4, 1939, the son of the late Sherman and Blanche Jines. A veteran, he served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy serving on diesel submarine as an electrical engineer His submarine was one of the firsts to practice breaking through the ice shelf. After receiving his honorable discharge, he worked as an electrician for South Central Bell, BellSouth and retired from AT&T.
Mr. Jines enjoyed reading books about history and war novels and also enjoyed fishing. He loved his dogs, but most of all cherished his family.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Farrish Jines , son Shannon Cordell Jines and his brother Charles Jines.
He is survived by a son, Derome Jines of Byram; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and a brother Robert Jines of Brandon. .
