Obituary for Donald Franklin "Duck" Adcock
Donald Franklin “Duck” Adcock, devoted husband and father, died November 22, 2020 and was joined in heaven by the love of his life, devoted wife and mother, Kathy Sue Adcock on December 7, 2020. Married for 49 years, best friends in life, inseparable in death, and one simply could not live without the other.
A native of Polkville, MS, Donald was born on May 21, 1949. Kathy was a native of Morton, MS and born on March 31, 1952. They married in August 1971. They were a couple of deep faith in God, who loved the Lord and raised their family in that faith. They were active members of First Baptist Church Richland since 1972. They adored and lived for their grandchildren. Donald and Kathy were active in raising chickens and goats and you could catch them at their chicken pen, goat pen, or barn anytime of the day. Donald loved talking horses with Brandi, traveling to Wyatt’s rodeos, and hauling Callie to a goat show. He taught all three of his grandchildren how to pray. Kathy, whom Donald referred to as “Love,” was a wonderful mother. Over the years, she has taken care of many little ones in her home for many families and loved these children with all her heart. As one friend noted of Kathy: she fixed hot meals every day for all of her babies. She celebrated holidays and special occasions with parties. She taught them to love Jesus, pray before their meals, and how to say the pledge of allegiance. She gave big hugs, made life fun, and provided love and encouragement.
Donald’s and Kathy’s marriage was a testimony to an enduring love and devotion between two best friends. They were exemplary in faith, hope, and love as displayed by their devotion to one another and their commitment to faith and family. While our loss is profound, we know they are together in Christ Jesus, and we will again be with them some day.
Donald and Kathy are preceded in death by a grandson, William Cody Lepard. Donald is also preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Hilda Curtis Adcock; and brothers, Prentiss Adcock and Curtis Adcock. Kathy is also preceded in death by her mother, Vernell Weeks Sessions and a brother Jimmy Kerry Hawkins.
They are survived by their heartbroken and loving daughters, Stacy Barber (Mike) and Cristy Middleton (Jason); grandchildren, Brandi Lane (Joey Hedgepeth), Wyatt Auston, and Callie Madison. Donald known as “Duck” is also survived by his brothers, Dennis Adcock (Anita), Ricky Adcock (Angela) and Danny Adcock (Monica); sister, Barbara Gipson; and sisters-in-law, Betty Adcock and Dianne Adcock. Kathy is also survived by her father, Billy Morris “Red” Sessions (Jean); brother, Danny Hawkins (Mary); and a sister, Brenda Holmes (Henry C.); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
