Obituary for Denis Rodney Herrin
Denis Rodney Herrin passed away Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 at his residence in Clinton, MS. He was 80. Rodney was born on August 19th, 1939 in Winterville, MS to the late Harry E. and Meredeth Reed Herrin. He was a music lover, he sang and played his guitar while listening and singing to the karaoke machine playing Elvis Presley. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and spending time with his family. Rodney was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys; loved good ol’ American cheeseburgers and Mexican food. Rodney fought a good fight with Parkinson’s disease that ailed him for 22 years. Rodney was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle and friend whose memory will be cherished. Rodney was the most wonderful and devoted husband to his wife, Goldie. The love they had for one another was indelible as Goldie provided round the clock care for Rodney and attended to his every need. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Norman Herrin. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife and caregiver, Goldie Herrin; son, Mike Dodd (Regina); daughter, Debbie Thomley (Marshall); sister, Glenda Lawsom; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren; numerous uncles and aunts; nephews and nieces; special friends, Ernie Phillips and Kenny Sanders. The Herrin Family would like to give special thanks to Pinelake Church and Morrison Heights Baptist Church, and all caregivers for their love, support and prayers during these trialing times. In lieu of flowers, please, send memorials in Rodney’s name to Pinelake Church. A memorial service in celebration of Rodney Herrin’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 22nd, 2020. at Pinelake Church in Clinton.
