Obituary for David Larry Allen
David Larry Allen “LD” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 after battling cancer. He was born in Magee, MS to Una and Raymond Allen.
LD is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rhonda Ashley Allen of Jackson, MS; sisters, Barbara Allen, Dot Harvey and Pat Powers; sister-in-law, Bonnie Allen, brother-in-law, Jimmy Hawkins, sister-in-law, Jennifer A. Cole (Anthony); and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He attended Jackson public school, and Hinds Junior College. He worked as a bartender and truck driver. He never met a stranger, and had many precious life long friends. He enjoyed all sports, participating in pool, darts, softball and golf. He was an avid Ole Miss fan.
LD was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. and Una J. Allen; brothers Raymond Jr., Bill Allen, and Charles “Winkie” Allen; sisters, Linda McLendon, Tish Hickman and Ann Hawkins; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Esther Allen, and maternal grandparents, Jody and Amanda McNair.
His wish was to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMMC Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
