Obituary for Danny Powell, Sr.
Danny Lee Powell, Sr., 71, passed away January 12, 2019 at home in Crystal Springs, MS. He was born August 21, 1947 to the late Julius and Ella Rea Errington Powell in Georgetown, MS where he spent his childhood. Danny was a Deacon of his church, Hopewell Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and also enjoyed playing golf. Danny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edith Shumaker Powell; son- Danny “Lee” (Susan) Powell, Jr. of Madison, MS; daughter- Betty (Randal) Patterson of Florence, MS; brothers- James (Ann) Powell and J.W. (Gay) Powell both of Georgetown, MS, Robert (Shiela) Powell of Atlanta, GA, and Luther (Amenda) Powell of Jackson, MS; grandchildren- Brandon (Brittany) Powell, Andrew Powell, Robert Powell, Mandy (Ethan) Wedgeworth, and Randi Patterson; great-grandchildren- Hunter Powell, Colton Powell and Jax Wedgeworth; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 from 10-11 AM at Hopewell Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS. A Graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, MS with Bro. Jimmy Bryant officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Powell, Richard Prine, Jessie James, Heath James, Darrell Prewitt and Reggie Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Powell, Robert Powell, Andrew Powell and Thomas Davis. In lieu of flowers please donate to Sebrell Funeral Home in Mr. Powell’s name for funeral expenses.
