Obituary for Conrad Ramon Martin
Conrad R. Martin died peacefully the morning of July 12th at Hospice Ministries due to complications from dementia. His long term companion Floyce Beevers and his daughter Betsy Sullivan were at his side. Conrad was born on March 23, 1931 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and was the youngest of 4 children. He moved to the great state of Mississippi in the early 60’s. Always a “salesman”, he started his career by selling cars and co-owned the Martin, Nash & Pack dealership in Miami, Oklahoma. Later, he worked selling men’s clothing for MacGregor and Curley where he was often the top salesman. During the 1950’s Conrad was drafted to the Navy and assigned to work in Adak, Alaska in communications. Adak was cold and dark most of the year round. To occupy his free time, he raised dogs and ran the base hobby shop. He served in Adak one year and was relieved to be sent home with an honorable discharge. He often joked that was the longest year of his life! Conrad found his passion selling real estate. After working several years under the guidance of Power Hearn he formed his own Real Estate company, Conrad Martin Real Estate. His RED signs can be seen throughout the state as his business continues to thrive after his retirement in 2015. In addition to selling real estate Conrad was involved in several successful developments – Castlewood’s, Southwind, Raintree and Windrose on the coast. Conrad loved the outdoors along with hunting and fishing. He prided himself on his BBQ skills and was a great entertainer throwing many memorable office parties’ and truly enjoyed his friends and family. Conrad lived a full and prosperous life. He leaves his sister, Pat Brent, daughter, Betsy Sullivan and companion Floyce Beevers. Step children, Karen Robinson, Burt Ryan and Jan Martin. We would like to thank the caring staff at the Brookdale Brandon, Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Sue Ann Meng and Dr. Katherine Gregg of the Mind Center. Teresa Cook and Ronnie Richardson of CMRE. Services will be held at Northminster Baptist Church on Friday, July 15th with visitation at 4 p.m. and service at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to The MIND Center in Jackson, or the College of the Ozarks.
