Obituary for Clarence James Andrews
Clarence “Buddy” James Andrews, 72, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at his home in Ridgeland, Mississippi surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will commence at 2:00PM, Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at Collins Northside Chapel, 461 West Northside Drive, Jackson, Mississippi 39206.
Clarence was born and raised and was a lifelong resident of Jackson who recently moved to Ridgeland. Since his childhood, Mr. Andrews was a member of Greater Pearlie Grove MB Church. He joined the Air Force on August 19th, 1963, and completed his initial term in the Security Police Squad. He continued his military career in the Air National Guard and after reaching the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, he retired after over 30 years of service.
Clarence was strong and stern individual. He was a friendly man, who loved and treasured his family. He was known for his ability to be a fair and impartial. He had an amazing wit and sense of humor which sometimes held a bit of sarcasm, yet, he was funny. He was always on time, being punctual was one of his many great qualities. He had many friends and often would engage conversation with others because he was such an outgoing man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton Kelly and Eva Andrews; and brother, Willie Kelly; and sister, Delores Murrell.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Kathy Andrews; sons, Michael Andrews of Jackson, MS and Christopher of Ridgeland, MS; daughters, Erika Andrews of Jackson, MS and Amanda (Demarcus)Henley of Dunwoody, GA; sisters, Josephine (Charles) Jackson of Jackson, MS, Shirley Robinson, Johnnie Ruth Kelly and Fay (Sidney) Rowell all of Chicago, Illinois; Uncle, Robert (Laura) Turner of Jackson, MS; and 3 grandchildren, Jason, Brandon and Chloe.
