Obituary for Charles Roger White
Charles Roger White died January 7, 2020 in Lexington, Mississippi. He was 83.
A native and lifelong resident of Holmes County, Mississippi, he was born January 20, 1936, the son of the late Plez and Dora Scott White.
Mr. White was a much beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a terrific sense of humor and loved life to the fullest. He was an excellent cook and loved to fish and work in his garden. He was a man of many skills and talents, from diesel mechanic to repairing sewing machines. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, whom he loved dearly, Bennita Joan Williams White; and a son, Martin White; and a sister, Inez Roberts.
He is survived by his sons, Charles “Hardy” White (Ethel), of Pensacola, FL; son, William Tracy White (Lanice), of Detroit, AL; daughter-in-law, Lena White, of Brandon; sisters: Emily Crapps (James), of Jackson; Esther Martin (Marcus), of Crystal Springs; and Gwen Winstead (Paul), of Pickens; brothers, Wilburn White (Warrene), of Ebenezer; Plez White Jr. (Faye), of Durant; and Larry White, of Ebenezer; grandchildren, Dustin, Sarah, and Mollie, Thomas, Travis, Tyler, Tanu, Michael and Zella; 8 great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2983 Ebenezer Road in Lexington, the Rev. Sam Riddell officiating. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dustin White, Reece Roberts, Michael White, Shay Daly, Paul Warren Winstead, and Ricky Winstead. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Veasey and Sidney Lemoine.
