Obituary for Charles Earl Warwick
Charles Earl Warwick, 88, died at home December 16, 2018 after a brief illness. Charles was born August 8, 1930 in Laurel, MS, the third of five children, to Robert and Lottie Warwick. Charles’ siblings Bobby, Bill (Frances), and Jim (Barbara), and his sister-in-law Sue survive him. He was predeceased by his infant son Robert in 1955, and by his brother Joe in 2010. Charles graduated from Mississippi College where he played football and threw the javelin. He married the love of his life, Eilene Robinson, in 1953. The newlyweds moved to Milwaukee, WS in the fall of 1953 where he attended Milwaukee School of Engineering, welcomed his first child, worked three jobs to support his family and graduated in 1955 at the top of his class. After graduation Charles returned to Jackson to manage Plumbing Wholesale Co., a family business. In 1968 he left Plumbing Wholesale Co. to pursue a career in commercial real estate development, a profession that he enjoyed and in which he remained active until recently. Charles was a lover of people who never met a stranger. He was naturally curious about folks and had a knack for making everyone he encountered feel special. He was a practical jokester who found great pleasure in the success of a well-planned and executed practical joke. He was a prolific writer of short stories and delighted when invited to read or tell his stories. Charles was a lifelong hunter who rarely missed an opportunity to escape to the woods. For decades, he was a gym rat and reluctantly, but regularly, worked out at the “gymnauseum.” Charles was a proud member of St. Columbs’ Old Farts Lunch Club, the Lions Club and the ACI group. Charles was happiest when surrounded by his family. He is survived by Eilene, his wife of 65 years; children Sharon Safer (Don), Andrew Warwick, Jon Warwick (Kathy); grandchildren Hannah Dykehouse (Clint), Jeffrey Woodard (Greta), Graham Warwick (Sarah), Shelby Wheatley (Kohl); and great grandchildren Juliana and Lola Dykehouse. Charles was christened as a child at St. Columb's Episcopal Church when it was located in West Jackson. Visitation will be Saturday, December 22, 2018, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at St. Columb's in Ridgeland, MS; service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow immediately at the Chapel of the Cross in Madison, MS. Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Grace Church Outreach Fund, 161 E. Peace St., Canton, MS 39046 or St. Columb's Episcopal Church, 550 Sunnybrook Rd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.
