Obituary for Charles Donald "Don" Lane
Charles Donald “Don” Lane passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 in his home in Flora surrounded by his loving family. He was 76.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Flora, born January 4, 1942, the son of the late Marvan Forrest Lane and Katherine Hawkins Lane. He and his family attended Flora United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Rachel Catherine Hillman and his brothers, William Lee Childress and Benjamin Hawkins Childress.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marylou Abels Lane; his children: son, Charles Donald Lane II; daughter, Mary Catherine Lane Hillman (Jeff); daughter, Christina Doris Lane Williams (Ed), all of Flora; sisters, Kay Childress Hunt (Bill), of Flora and Nancy Lane Yonkers, of Jackson; brothers, Jack R. Childress and Joe Childress (Mary Ann), both of Flora; grandchildren: Mary Beth Osborne (Joshua), Charles Donald “Trace” Lane III (Maggie), Charles Cooper Hillman, Steven Connor Hillman, Lane Edward Williams, and Mary Haydon Williams; great grandchildren, Tack Hudson Osborne and Kennedy Lane Osborne; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 at Flora United Methodist Church, 142 Carter Street, and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Flora United Methodist Church, the Reverend Scott Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Flora City Cemetery.
