Obituary for Charles Bobo Keeler
Charles Bobo Keeler entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2018, following an extended illness. "Bo", as he was known, was born November 12, 1936, in Clarksdale, MS. to Fincher Bobo Keeler and Virginia Harper Keeler. He was a graduate of Clarksdale High School and a lifelong member of St. George's Episcopal Church. On December 21, 1960, Bo married Margaret Rice of Sumner, MS. He graduated from Mississippi State University following a stint in the United States Army. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Following completion of his education in Starkville, Bo began employment with IBM in Jackson. Soon, the family owned Buick dealership, Keeler and Company, beckoned him home to Clarksdale where he enjoyed many productive years in the field of sales with his father. Perhaps his most meaningful work, however, was accomplished through his service to the Kairos Prison Ministry as well as the role of deacon at St. George's Episcopal Church. Bo cherished time spent reading his Bible, playing his guitar and performing in Clarksdale's Community Theater in a variety of roles and musicals. He relished trying his hand at repairing most anything, including his beloved boat found on the banks of DeSoto Lake. Bo was preceded by his sister, Katherine Keeler; his brother Clifford Bartlett Keeler and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Rice Keeler; his sister, Virginia Harper Bills (Johnny) of North Palm Beach, Fla.; his children, Thomas Bradford Keeler of Madison, MS., William Harper Keeler (Beth) of Jackson, MS. and Lent Rice Keeler (Stephanie) of McKinney, TX. He was a loving grandfather to William Farrar Keeler, John Patrick Keeler, Chase Bradford Keeler and Cade Stephen Keeler. Visitation will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church in Clarksdale, MS. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at l:00 PM. A memorial service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, 106 Sharkey Avenue, Clarksdale, MS. 38614 or Kairos of Mississippi, P.O. Box 16988, Jackson, MS. 39236.
