Obituary for Cecil Miller
Cecil Miller, 75, passed away surrounded by his family, July 18, 2018 at Baptist Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial following in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mr. Miller was born on August 22, 1942, in Hazlehurst, the son of the late Donald and Ruby Miller. He retired from Frito Lay, where he logged over 3 million accident free miles as a truck driver. A faithful Christian, he loved his church, serving as a deacon, sponsoring youth trips and providing lawn service for the church grounds. Mr. Miller was also an ordained minister in the Baptist Church. In his younger years, he served in the MS Army National Guard. Mr. Miller was known for his generosity and kindness, assisting anyone in need. He was known as “Uncle Cecil” by many who knew him. He adored his family and will be remembered most as a beloved husband, a cherished father and a devoted brother. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Wayne Miller and Maurice Miller. Survivors include: wife, Kay Miller, son Alan Miller (Angie) all of Crystal Springs; brothers and sisters, Gerald Miller, of Hazlehurst; Paul Miller of Hazlehurst; Linda Emerick of Natchez; Nancy Ballard of Carnes; Ronnie Miller of Crystal Springs; Neal Miller of Wesson; Lisa Nevill of Petal; grand niece, Peyton Mixon of Jackson along with numerous other nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, 2002 Hopewell Road, Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
