Obituary for Casey Ross Vaughn
On December 27, 2017 Casey Ross Vaughn, age 31, passed these earthly confines to be with Our Father. Casey’s home was in Daphne, Alabama. We miss him dearly but know that he is at peace. Casey is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Billy E. Browning and his paternal grandfather Lewis E. Vaughn. Casey was a loving father and is survived by his son Lucas Vaughn; mother, Linda Jo (Peter) Mickler of Pelham, Alabama; his father Danny (Holly) Vaughn of Cantonment, Florida; his brother Wes (Secilia) Vaughn of Keller, Texas; paternal grandmother Sandra Vaughn; maternal grandmother Joyce Browning; and aunts, uncles, and cousins who are grieving with heavy hearts. Casey was a true friend and is missed by his buddy Dr. Michael Baker, and dozens of his former classmates, fellow veterans, and golfing buddies.
Casey was an avid golfer, having played since the age of 9. He participated in regional junior golf tournaments throughout his childhood and teenage years. Casey graduated from Daphne High School (Daphne, Alabama) in 2005 where he was an excellent student and golfer on the golf team. He also truly loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, having walked through the Grand Canyon, and Yosemite, Sequoia, Mt. Rainier, Kings Canyon, Rocky Mountain, and Grand Teton National Parks. Casey was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having dutifully served the country he was so proud of at Whidbey Island, Washington, and Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. He was an Aviation Machinist’s Mate (AD) and was a ‘squared away’ sailor. Casey was also a graduate of the University of South Alabama (Mobile), majoring in Business Administration (Finance), and would have soon started a new career at the Veterans Administration in Jackson, Mississippi.
A memorial service for Casey will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery aboard Pensacola Naval Air Station (NAS) on January 15th at 11:30am where he will be interred thereafter. Attendees of the memorial service will be required to gather in the funeral procession before entering the NAS.
