While at Ole Miss, she was a member of Delta Theta Phi. Carolyn served as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Mississippi from 1976 to 1988 and specifically as attorney for the Institutions of Higher Learning, the Mississippi Public Service Commission, the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the Mississippi Board of Nursing. Carolyn enjoyed travel and the theater, spending time with family and friends, and cherished especially the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Her longtime friend Patty Mitchell said about Carolyn: “She was one of the most generous people I’d ever known. She was my one friend who wasn’t on Facebook, didn’t do email, didn’t text, or have voice mail, but we always managed to communicate somehow. She loved her daughter Katherine and son Stephen so much and was willing to help them out any way she could, but her four grandchildren stole her heart, and she would always tell me how much she adored them.”
Carolyn was a member of Northminster Baptist Church in Jackson. A private interment will be held for the family at the church. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “CARA,” the Community Animal Rescue and Adoption, or the American Cancer Society.
