Obituary for Carol Cable McDuffie
Carol Cable McDuffie, daughter of Albert Haman Cable and Catherine Stingily Cable passed away peacefully at St. Dominic’s Hospital on May 22, 2018 at 6:00 a.m. Mrs. McDuffie was born in Sumner, Mississippi in Tallahatchie County on March 21st, 1929. She grew up in Cleveland, MS in Bolivar County. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1946. She attended Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College) and graduated in 1950 with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature and worked for over 30 years for the State of Mississippi’s Library Commission and the Handicap for the Blind before she retired in 1993.
Carol married Howard Woodie McDuffie, Jr. December 16, 1951. There were married 49 years before Howard passed away in January 2001. Mrs. McDuffie is survived by her daughter – Catherine McDuffie Kirk and her husband Monty, by her sons Howard Woodie McDuffie III and his wife Ann and Richard Walton McDuffie and his wife Sandra, seven grandchildren and seven great grand-children.
Memorials may be sent to Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Howard McDuffie Memorial Endowed Scholarship in the College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University, or an organization of choice.
Visitation will be held in the sanctuary at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, 620 Briarwood Drive in Jackson, MS on May 24, 2018, at noon, with memorial services in the sanctuary starting at 1:00 p.m.
