Obituary for Carlton Maxwell Daniel

Carlton Maxwell Daniel, age 45, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Marietta, GA, and went to join the angels in heaven the morning of May 26, 2023. He was the cherished son of Carlton Ralph Daniel III and Melissa P Daniel. Carl was born at Women's Hospital in Jackson, MS in 1978 and attended pre-schools in Birmingham, Alabama and Jackson, Mississippi. He attended Jackson Academy until the 11th grade and graduated from St Andrew's School in 1996. Carl was a good student and an avid runner at both schools. In his senior year at St Andrews he came in 2nd at the state track meet. He ran with the Mississippi Track Club where he held the record for the fastest half marathon finish time for a twelve year old, at the time. He won numerous track awards. He also participated in several triathlons. His cross country coach at St Andrews, John Applegate, nominated Carl to be an Olympic Torch Escort (carry the Olympic Torch in Jackson, MS) on its way to Atlanta in 1996, which he did with great pride. He was the driving force for several fathers of runners at St Andrew's School, including his own father, to donate and raise funds to build the first track at the Ridgeland, MS school.

Carl graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with high honors in 2000. He went on to complete a Masters of Science in Management degree from Georgia State University in 2002, and finished high in his class. He worked in special education at Georgia schools until his job at Allstate Insurance in Arbitration and Negotiation (acts of subrogation) in the Subrogation claims department in Atlanta for 15 years. He received several awards from Allstate. Carl was fiercely independent and enjoyed his life in Atlanta immensely.

Carl married the love of his life, Amy Borowski, in 2014. They settled in Marietta GA and enjoyed times with Amy's son Eric Poole and Amy's parents, Pat and Bill Borowski. Carl unfortunately had a massive hemorrhagic stroke, which changed his life, in November, 2017, but was determined to continue to work and support his family. However, complications and progression of the stroke took its course and caused his recent death.

Carl was a loving and caring person, cherished by many. His loss leaves a huge hole in our hearts. In addition to his loving parents, Carl leaves behind his cherished wife, Amy, and Amy's son Eric Poole, cherished brother Jonathan G Daniel (Laura), loving uncles David Daniel (Lisa), Greg Pace (Patsy), cherished cousin Jeff Bauman, and caring in-laws Pat and Bill Borowsky. Carl was predeceased by loving grandparents Beverly and Ralph Daniel, Jr, John and Mary Paisios and cherished cousin David Gordon Daniel. Carl loved the company of his longtime friends Kevin, Tom, Troy and Brad who will miss him dearly.
