Obituary for Carl Coleman
Carl Coleman, 86, died May 2, 2017 at home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison followed by interment in Lakewood South Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mr. Coleman was born on April 4, 1931, in Charleston, MS, the son of the late Albert and Dovie Coleman. A veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Coleman graduated from Hinds Community College in 1955 and began his career with General Electric. Employed with General Electric for 35 years in Jackson and Circleville, OH, Mr. Coleman worked as a mechanic machinist and shop supervisor until his retirement. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church as well as the American Legion. Mr. Coleman enjoyed helping people with home repairs and cherished spending time with his family. He enjoyed working with soil, growing vegetables and flowers in his garden. He is preceded by his wife of 61 years, Donie Coleman, 1 brother and 7 sisters. Survivors include: daughter, Diane Pharr of Brandon; son, Steve (Jennie) Coleman of Clinton; son, Robert Coleman of Coral Gables, FL; son, Ronald Coleman of Pontotoc; daughter, Carla (Bobby) Russell of Brandon; grandchildren, Roy Collum of Brandon; Jonathan Coleman of TX; Brian Collum of Brandon; Valerie Coleman of GA; Stephen Coleman of Clinton; Justin Evans of FL; Joshua Coleman of GA; Tanya Coleman of MS ; Cory Russell of Brandon and brother-in-law, Charles Boland of Tupelo.
