Brigadier General (Retired) William T. McGlathery III (Bill) passed away on September 14, 2023, at The Arbor, Ridgeland, Ms., after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Bill was born in Mountain Brook, Alabama on July 27, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr.
William T.McGlathery II and Edna Mae McGlathery.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joan C. McGlathery and his son William T. McGlathery IV (Tom) and his wife Stacia and their children Alexa and Christopher.
He is also survived by his stepchildren Mike Mason, his wife Tracy and their son Drew; Melissa Lowery, her husband Mack and their children Mackenzie Arnold (Will) and Maison Littrell (Avery); Millie Molpus and her husband Ronnie and their children Hailey Shedd (Jimmy) and Cody Hinson.
In addition, he is survived by great-grandchildren, Maren Arnold, William Arnold and Sawyer Shedd.
Bill attended the University of Mississippi on a baseball scholarship as pitcher for the Ole Miss Rebels.
In 1964 the team played in the National College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Bill loved the Ole Miss Rebels and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bill served in the Mississippi Air National Guard for 32 years.
He enjoyed meeting his friends at the Mississippi Ag Museum Café for lunch ( at 11.00 a.m. sharp).
Bill was a Deacon at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church and served faithfully as long as he was able.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 5049 Lakeland Drive, Flowood, MS 39232, or to a charity of choice.
Visitation will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church on Monday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m.
