Obituary for Bonnie Eloise Pou Williams
On Friday August 19, 2022 Our beautiful and loving Mother, Bonnie Eloise Pou Williams, 93, left us for her heavenly home. Bonnie lived at the Home Place in Madison, MS for the last 8 years. She was baptized in the Methodist church, but enjoyed several different pastors while living there. Bonnie was born in Laurel, MS to W. M. (Bon) Pou and Eloise Davis Cran Pou on October, 13, 1928. After graduating from George S. Gardiner High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Leston Easterling, a Naval Officer, and moved to Oregon. They traveled frequently, mostly camping across the country, so their children could see America. Bonnie enjoyed many years volunteering wherever she was needed such as the local hospitals. She was a Cub Scout leader for her sons, room mother at their schools, ending at McWillie Elementary. When the children were older, Bonnie worked at Beemon Drugs in Jackson, MS where she helped implement the famous Hallmark greeting card corner. After moving back to Laurel, MS she worked at the Laurel General Hospital and met Alfred (Smiley) Williams. They were married and he went on to love her family as his own. She volunteered at the Charity Hospital and was very involved in the American Legion, working alongside her mother, Eloise. When her mother became ill she lovingly took care of her everyday until her death and then again for her father. She learned her green thumb from her Mother and had an entire glassed-in front porch in Laurel filled with thriving plants and flowers that she maintained. She carried that tradition of plants and her home decorations all the way to the Home Place. Bonnie loved to go thrift shopping and had a knack for home decor. Everyone loved to look at all her collection as she curated her home with such a homey atmosphere. There was always something good to eat in her kitchen for your sweet tooth. Her happiest days of life were being ‘Nanny’. Bonnie and Alfred moved to Jackson to be near her children and grandchildren. She never missed a high school football game as she watched her grandsons, Trey and Eric, excel on the field. She enjoyed her son’s and their families. Bonnie was also an avid animal lover. She is predeceased by her parents, her. Husband, Alfred Williams, her three sisters (the Pou girls) Marguerite (Guy) Walker, Nell ( Harry) Woods and Martha Jean (Bobby) Moore, her son, Les Easterling, Jr., and her grandson, Eric Seeley. She leaves to cherish her memories Brother, Wendell (Carol) Pou, Her daughter Mary (Lyman)Seeley, Twins, Richard (Lisa)Easterling,Robert (Arlene)Easterling, Grandson, Trey Seeley.
