Obituary for Billy Banks
Billy Charles Banks, 72, passed away Wednesday, September 4th, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was born October 10th, 1946 to the late Curtis Alvin Banks and Leveter Waltman Banks in Crossett, AR. A native of Arkansas, he graduated from Hamburg High School in Hamburg, AR. Billy was employed with Georgia Pacific in Crossett, AR for 41 years and served 21 years in the National Guard. He and his beloved wife Debbie retired and moved to Collins, MS about 10 years ago. Billy was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he was actively serving in different roles. He loved to work in the garden watching things grow, had a love for dogs and loved working with his hands; but most of all, Billy loved and adored his family. He was the “Best” husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Billy will be greatly missed. Billy was preceded in death by his parents. He was survived by his wife of 29 years, Debbie Banks of Collins, MS; sons- T.J. (Guida) Murray of Ocean Springs, MS, Brad (Dianne) Murray also of Ocean Springs, MS and William “Brad” Banks of Memphis, TN; daughter- Christie Lynn Wells of Memphis, TN; brother- Dennis (Marti) Banks of Crossett, AR; sisters- Delouise (Willis) Doss and Imogene Deal both of Crossett, AR; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Banks, Dennis Banks, Willis Doss, T.J. Murray, Brad Murray, Darrell Craft, Joe Sheffield, Bruce Gresham, Hudson Louque, Quinton Mathis, Rocky Shoemake, Ben Beasley, Jack Maulden, Tommy Windham and Tom Murray. A memorial service will be held at Salem Baptist Church in Collins on Monday, September 9th, 2019 at 11a.m. Visitation starts at 10a.m. Dinner will follow. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to Salem Baptist Church in honor of Billy.
