Betty Sue Davidson-Wilkerson, 86, born April 10, 1936, passed March 15, 2023, at her home in Canton, MS.
She was born in Kosciusko, MS to John Cullen Davidson and Sudie Hesta Ingles-Davidson of Davidson Marble and Granite Works in Kosciusko.
She was the eldest of four children. While attending Kosciusko High School, class of 54, she was a majorette and marched in the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State College for Women and began teaching in Golden, CO. She went on to earn a master’s in education from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA. She married in 1960 and was blessed with four children: Joseph Robin (Debbie), John David, Wende Sue (Ellis), and Jeffrey Scott (Casy, decd.).
Her life was filled with adventures and travels to faraway lands. Exotic ports-of-call included: The Holy Land, Japan, Taiwan, Scotland, England, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand, and numerous fun-filled trips across the United States with friends and family. Betty was an avid reader and relished the prose of Louis L’amour as well as the classical learnings of the Christian Faith
She is survived by all her children and brother: John Cullen ‘Skipper’ Davidson II (Debbie), also of Canton, and brother-in-law Warren Sanders. She was preceded by the passing of her two sisters, Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Varitz (Ron, decd.) of Hillsborough OR and Mary ‘Rynnie’ Sanders (Warren) of Winona, MS. Her legacy includes six grandchildren: Rowan Mitchell, Colleen Mitchell (Drew), Phoebe Mitchell (Ross), Jasmine Wilkerson, Jadyn Wilkerson, and Wesley Blosfield.
Betty’s funeral will be a graveside service at the family plot in Parkway Cemetery, Kosciusko; date to be determined.
