Obituary for Betty Lou Scott

Betty Scott passed away peacefully August 22, 2023. She was born May 5, 1925, in Orlando Florida. She was married to the love of her life, Joseph Scott for 35 years prior to his death in 1979.


Betty was an avid golfer and Master Bridge player. She took up painting in her later years and became a very accomplished artist. For many years she was employed as the comptroller for a large computer services company.


Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her most loved, only child, Diane Scott “Scottie” Jackson and her husband, Thomas Jackson. There are three grandchildren, Lori-Lynne Cooke and husband David, Jennifer Scott Monk, Ray Scott Miller and his wife Sonia. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, William David Cooke, John Bailey Cooke, Nathan Daniel Cooke, Sarah Jane Monk, Jacob Miller Monk, Emily Kathryn Monk, Mia Nicole Miller, Raymond Keith Miller Jr., and Catherine Emilia Miller.


Services will be at St. Peter’s By-The-Lake Episcopal Church this Friday at 2:00 pm.

Her Cremains will be laid to rest in the Columbarium at the church. A reception with the family will follow the service.


The family has requested no flowers please. Instead, you can make a donation to St. Peter’s By-The- Lake Episcopal Church, 1954 Spillway Rd., Brandon, MS 39047 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 39105.
