Obituary for Bertie Mae Sullivan Culpepper
Bertie Mae Sullivan Culpepper, 97, our sweet Mother and Mamaw received her heavenly wings on June 23, 2017 at home; a peaceful transition which we had prayed for. This precious matriarch was the pillar of our family, the one we could always count on. Even though our hearts are saddened, we rejoice because we know where she is, with her Savior and loved ones. Mrs. Culpepper was a school teacher, basketball coach, and school bus driver. She was a devout faithful Christian, reading her Bible every day; and was a faithful member of Parkway Pentecostal Church in Madison. Mrs. Culpepper was preceded in death by her husband, James Fulton Culpepper, parents, Conn Lee and Fannie Mary Sullivan; brothers, Talmadge, Bernice and Pat Sullivan. She is survived by her children, Jan Douglas (James), Madison; Mary Graham (Doyce), Clinton; and Joel Culpepper (Fair) of Brandon; grandchildren, Sharon Smith (Robert); Chris Hickman (Claudette); Terry Hickman (Irene); Christy Perilloux (Mike); Colton Culpepper; Dalton Culpepper and Brody Culpepper; great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Courtney, Jordan, Matthew, Michael, Cade, Tymalynn, Emily and Zack; 7 great-great grandchildren and sisters, Conley Sherman and Joyce Comley (Ray). Services will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Pentecostal Church in Madison with Visitation Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the church and 1:00 p.m. Monday. Interment will follow Monday in Florence City Cemetery. Following the Graveside service a meal will be provided for the family at Jesus Name Tabernacle Church in Florence.
