Obituary for Ben H. Tullos
On May 2, 1936 the Lord gave to Marshall and Evelyn twin sons, John and Ben, born in Magee, MS. On April 19, 2017, Ben’s earthly journey ended and the Lord took him safely home. Ben accepted Christ as his personal savior when he was eleven years old at Wells Memorial Church in Jackson, MS.

Ben was raised in Jackson, MS where he attended Galloway Elementary, Bailey Junior High and Central High. In 1958, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and moved to Birmingham, AL to work. There, he met and married Sylvia Nix on October 17, 1959 at Woodlawn Methodist Church. Ben’s work years were spent in the agricultural chemical business traveling the states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.

His greatest love was for his family and he and Sylvia were blessed with three children and seven above average grandchildren, to whom they have passed the baton of faith in Jesus Christ. Karen Tullos Masterson and her children, Warren Masterson and wife Ann Clark, and Taylor Masterson, Ben Tullos, Jr. and wife, Rhonda and their children Lauren Tullos, Houston Tullos and Caroline Tullos; Evan Tullos and wife, Stephanie and their children, Victoria Tullos and Alexandra Tullos.

Ben is survived by his wife Sylvia Nix Tullos, their three children and seven grandchildren and his twin brother, Jon Tullos. Family members who also survive are Cindy Tullos Maddox, Susan Tullos Morgan, and David Tullos, the three children of Ben’s deceased brother. David Tullos, Shannon Tullos, Fulton and Christy Tullos, the children of Jon Tullos, brother-in-law, Jack Nix and sister-in-law, Nita Nix Yarbrough and husband Russell, both of Birmingham, AL. Family members who predeceased Ben are his parents, his brother, David Tullos and wife, Bettie; one grandchild, Rachel Tullos, the wife of Ben and Rhonda Tullos.

We give thanks for the many friends that Ben grew up from school and church that he has remained close to the years. We also give thanks for our pastor John Ward, and every member of Grace Bible Church, who so faithfully prayed for Ben through his long illness. Ben chose these special friends as honorary pallbearers, Jackie Sarratt, Ronnie Carroll, Smiley Ratcliff, Gene Berbette, Art Berry, Cecil Ferrell, Jim Magness, Barry Owen and John Anderson.

A Christian service of remembrance will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Grace Bible Church, 380 Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS. The service will begin at 11:00 A.M. followed by a time of visitation and fellowship at the church. Private Burial Services will be in Birmingham, AL at Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ben’s memory to Grace Bible Church or Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS.

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, may the name of the Lord be praised. Job 1:21
