Obituary for Barbara Kaye Gaddis
Barbara Kaye Gaddis, 76, died on July 13, 2016 after a courageous battle with lung cancer at St. Dominic Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 15, 2016 at the New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Sebrell Funeral Home. Mrs. Gaddis was born on November 8, 1939, the daughter of the late Julius R. Alsobrooks and Janie Harvis Alsobrooks. She attended Hinds Community College where she studied accounting. A devoted wife, Mrs. Gaddis worked in her family’s business, Southern States Images. Mrs. Gaddis was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews and cherished spending time with them. She loved animals, fishing, cooking and was known for her patience. Mrs. Gaddis enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother, David Eugene Alsobrooks, sister, Marilyn Ann Engelking, and nephew, Eddie Gaddis of Byram. Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Donald Leon Gaddis of Clinton; brother, Julius Wayne Alsobrooks of Purvis; nieces and nephews, Cindy Melancon of TX; Terry Lynn Cole of TX; Richard J. Cole of TX; Robin K. Cole of Atlanta, GA; David Bradford Alsobrooks of Chattanooga, TN; Janie Alsobrooks of Chattanooga, TN; Bonnie Lynn Gaddis of Byram; Bo Gaddis of Terry; great nieces, Amanda, Chris and Rose. The family would like to thank Becky Curtis for all her help and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CARA, 960 N Flag Chapel Rd, Jackson, MS 39209
