Obituary for Barbara Fondren Mills
Barbara Ann Mills passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 79.
A native of Cleveland, Mississippi, born October 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Kyle and Mildred Mullins Fondren. She retired from South Central Bell in 1996 with over 28 years of service.
Barbara was the most loving and caring person. She was a Christian and loved attending church. She enjoyed watching football and basketball. She was a wonderful and devoted mother and “Mamaw” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family loved her dearly and she will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Sayles Fondren and Kyle Fondren Jr.; sisters; Nellie Wilson, Francis Korman, and Mae Broadwater.
She is survived by her sons, Charles “Chuck” Mills, Jr. (Betty) and David Wayne Mills, both of Florence, MS; grandchildren: Robyn Shorter (Broyor), of Florence, MS; Charles “Dalton” Mills, III, of Auburn, AL; Kimberly Mills, of Florence, MS; and Scott Wayne Mills, Pearl, MS; great grandchild, Milli-Kate Shorter, of Florence, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Briar Hill Baptist Church, 707 Hwy 469 N in Florence, Rev. Malcolm Pinion officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence.
