Obituary for Ann Wells Gaudet
Ann Wells Gaudet, age 87, died on August 30, 2018 at home in Madison, MS. Funeral services will be at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, September 4th at 3:00pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm. The Graveside service will be on Tuesday, at 10:00 am at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery.
A native of Greenwood, MS, Mrs. Gaudet was the daughter of John Thomas Wells and Annie Ramsey Longino Wells. Her grandfather was the late Governor Andrew Houston Longino, whose administration authorized the construction of the New Capitol Building.
After graduating from MSCW (now MUW) with a degree in Social Studies, she studied at the University of Florida, after her marriage to Joseph Paul Gaudet the representative for Carrier Corporation, Ann worked for the Department of Social Work in Louisiana.
The family moved to Jackson, MS in 1972. Ann was active at Covenant Presbyterian Church and received an honorary life membership in 1998.
Survivors include daughter Anne Gaudet Beard (Richardson) of Dallas, TX, son John Wells Gaudet, M.D. of Hattiesburg, MS. Grandchildren are Ramsey Richardson Beard and Jocelyn Prescott Beard of Dallas, TX; Andrew Joseph Gaudet of Hattiesburg, MS; Anthony Christopher Cafalone of Pass Christian, MS; Rebecca Lynn Gaudet and Cheryl Ann Gaudet of Hattiesburg, MS; and sister Lillian Wells Moore of Kilmarnock, VA; and many nephews and nieces. Preceding her in death are her husband Joseph Paul Gaudet, son Paul Houston Gaudet of Jackson, MS; and sister Marion Wells Hall of Covington, LA.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4000 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211.
