Obituary for Alice O'Ferrall Reilly
Alice Carter O’Ferrall Reilly went to be with her Lord on August 2, 2021.

She was born on January 15, 1932 to Dr. Richard Carter O’Ferrall and Bertha Hines O’Ferrall in Jackson, MS. Alice graduated from Central High School in 1950. She attended Sophie Newcomb and transferred to the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority where she served as president her senior year. Before graduating, she was crowned the Queen of the Junior League Carnival Ball and named Kappa Alpha Rose. Her love and commitment to Chi Omega continued after graduation as a member of the Ole Miss House Corporation of Chi Omega for many years.

Alice married her childhood sweetheart, Frank Jordan Reilly in 1954. They moved to Norfolk, VA and transferred to Aruba NWI during their time in the Navy. He was discharged and they returned home to Jackson, MS in 1958. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a circle leader for many years. She was recognized by the Women of the Church with the Lifetime Membership Award. Alice was also a member of the Debutante Club and Junior League of Jackson. She attended several luncheon clubs where she enjoyed fellowship with her many close friends. She was an avid tennis player and loved playing bridge with her friends. Alice was a gifted artist and taught art at First Presbyterian Day School and Herb’s Frame Shop where she built many wonderful friendships with her students. She was most known for her children’s portraits. Countless portraits of hers are cherished and displayed in homes across the Southeast.

Alice is survived by her husband of 67 years, Frank Reilly, daughters, Semmes Van Brocklin of Oxford, MS and Atlanta, GA, Robin Edwards (Orrin) of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren, Reilly Van Brocklin of Atlanta, GA, Carr Van Brocklin (Lizzie) of Seattle, WA, Alison Van Brocklin of Oxford, MS, Jordan Beall (Roddy) of Steamboat Springs, CO, and Tori Edwards of Wilmington, NC, and one great-grandson, Fitz Van Brocklin. As well as, many nieces, nephews, and devoted cousins, all of whom knew her as “Sister”.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Orchard for their love and kindness.

There will be a graveside service at Lakewood Cemetery on Friday, August 6th, followed by a visitation at First Presbyterian Church from 10:30-11:45 with a celebration of Alice’s life in the sanctuary immediately following at 12.
