Albert Leveck, age 92, of Jackson passed away suddenly January 6. Born and raised in Starkville, Albert attended the University of Colorado and served in the US Air Force. Albert was an avid sports fan, especially for Mississippi St. He was an exceptional jazz and classical pianist, regarded as one of the top jazz pianists in San Francisco during the 1960s. With a CPA in accounting, he held corporate positions in California and New Jersey. In the ’80s, he returned to Mississippi to help care for his aging parents. Albert was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Hortense Leveck, and sister Carla Willenzik. He is survived by nieces Nancy Haller (Richard), Marcy Friedman (Michael), nephews Rick Willenzik (Marci) and HoJo Willenzik (Barbara), and many family and friends. Graveside services and internment to be held at the Jewish Cemetery in Greenville.
Albert Leveck, 92, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023. Born and raised in Starkville, Albert attended the University of Colorado, where he earned a degree in accounting. During the Korean conflict, he served in the US Air Force as a musician at Keesler Air Force Base. Later, he held corporate positions as a CPA in California and New Jersey. He was an exceptional jazz and classical pianist, regarded as one of the top jazz pianists in San Francisco during the 1960s.
Albert returned to Mississippi where he worked for the state government in Jackson and ultimately retired. In Jackson he played piano for musical and Broadway show productions and did volunteer work for the opera company. Albert was an avid sports fan, especially Mississippi State University sports, which he followed with keen interest.
Albert’s mother Hortense Pachter Leveck taught piano in Starkville for about 40 years. His father Henry Leveck was a Professor of Animal Husbandry at Mississippi State. Albert was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carla Willenzik. He is survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom will cherish his memory. Graveside services and internment will be held at the Jewish Cemetery in Greenville.
