Ravi was born in Pune, India on March 29, 1952. In Pune, he attended St. Joseph’s School. He is an alumnus of Wadia College in India. While in India, he and his best friend William Martin owned a tool manufacturing business. Ravi would then leave India to start a new journey in the United States. Ravi met Ruth in early 1982. They fell in love and were married a year later on June 4th, 1983 at Saint James Episcopal Church in Greenville, Mississippi. Ravi moved to North Carolina and attended Wake Forest University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro studying business. Upon returning to Jackson, MS, Ravi’s focus became raising his most cherished possession: Andrew.

While living in Jackson, Ravi developed many hobbies: flying remote controlled airplanes, building model trains, leather working, owning the newest technology, and becoming an expert marksman. His favorite times in life included those he spent with family and friends commiserating on the back porch of his home, eating at his favorite restaurants or driving a boat on the ocean. One of the proudest moments in his life was becoming a United States citizen in 1994.

In Jackson, he was a faithful member of Galloway Methodist Church and later became a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral. While worshiping at St. Andrew’s, he supervised Meals on Wheels delivery food service for over 10 years.

He will be incredibly missed by his family and friends who loved and admired his strength and courage, his commitment to family, his love of life and his sense of humor. The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation to: Dr. Grace Shumaker, Dr. Timothy Cannon, the nursing staffs at Baptist Hospital and St. Dominic’s Hospital, and especially Ruth and Ravi’s devoted sisters, Sybil Raju and Margaret Roberson. They also express special thanks to all the family and friends for their support throughout his journey with leukemia.

Services will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral in Jackson, MS on Friday, November 24th, 2017 at 3:00 pm with burial to follow at the St. Andrew’s Columbarium. Visitation will begin at the church in the Parish Hall at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Memorials may be sent to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
