Obituary for Mildred Jones Kennedy
Mildred J. Kennedy, 92, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11:00 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Jackson with burial following at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 Saturday at the Church. Mildred was born on July 10, 1925 in Laurel, MS to E.O and Eunice Jones. She was raised in her beloved Collins, MS. After her High School graduation, she moved to Jackson, MS where she lived in the Huff Home. She met her husband, Tom, and they were married in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Jackson. After a brief time of living in McComb, MS and Gulfport, MS, Mildred and Tom returned to Jackson where they raised their children. Top priority was to raise her children in a Christian home. They were charter members of Broadmoor Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and also her parents, E.O and Eunice Jones and her brother, James Edward Jones. Mildred is survived by her 5 children, son Bev (Frances) of Laurens, SC; son Price (Pat) of Knoxville, TN; daughter Dotty Wade of Jackson, MS; son Wally Kennedy of Jackson, MS; son Will Kennedy (Liza) of Rogers, TX; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of cousins and other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS or to Olde Towne Community Church of Ridgeland, MS.
