Obituary for John Thomas Thompson
John Thomas Thompson passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 71.
A native of Laurel, born October 3, 1946, he was the son of the late O.W. and Vivian Thompson. Mr. Thompson began his career with the State of Mississippi in the print legislative office and retired as Director of Hand Mail Services, Department of Finance and Administration, following 32 years of service. He was an avid fan of motorcycles and vintage automobiles. He most recently purchased a Slingshot which he and his wife enjoyed together. He enjoyed traveling in his motorhome with his wife especially in the Everglades and Miami where they attended and enjoyed concerts together at the Church of the Epiphany.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dianne Brooks Thompson, of Byram; an uncle, Allen Jones, of Laurel; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Sebrell Funeral Home with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Gateway Rescue Mission, PO Box 3763, Jackson, MS 39207.
